Daryl Stagg

Director's Biography

Director's Vision for the Future

On March 16, 2005. Daryl Stagg joined us on the mission field of Lake County Baptist Association. Daryl and Polly, his wife, are North American Mission Board appointed missionaries.

Daryl believes the purpose of the association is to intentionally resource pastors and congregations in starting and strengthening churches so that they can fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) and the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-40).

Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV), “Go, therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

In Matthew 22:37, 39, 40 (NIV) Jesus said, Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind…Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

Cooperation, fellowship, association, partnership, and support among pastors and churches are required to accomplish this purpose on an associational level.

1 Corinthians 3:6, 9 (NIV) says “I planted the see, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”

Ezra 10:4 (LB) says, “Take courage and tell us how to proceed in setting things straight, and we will fully cooperate.”

Daryl believes the role of the Director of Missions is to help pastors and churches remove growth-restricting diseases and barriers so that natural, normal Kingdom growth can occur. As it says in Colossians 2:19b (NCV) “It is from him that all the parts of the body are cared for and held together. So it grows in the way God wants it to grow.”

As Director of Missions, he believes he can facilitate the accomplishment of his role in the following ways:

  1. Paint a clear, compelling vision of the association

  2. Prevent ministerial burnout

  3. Pastor pastors (Hebrews 10:24)

  4. Partner with Great Commission churches
                In planting new churches
                In planning conferences
In meeting the training needs of the churches or pastors

  5. Provide opportunities to be On-Mission with God (Romans 15:20)

  6. Promote, not push, denominational programs and resources

  7. Put a face on the denomination for churches and put a face on the churches for the denomination

  8. Pioneer new methods and paradigms (Ecclesiastes 11:4, Proverbs 18:15)

  9. Proclaim the Word of God as invited by the churches

  10. Provide Church Health/Growth Consultations, Referrals and Resources

  11. Pursue the strategic plan of the association (Proverbs 11:27, 13:16, 18:13, 19:21, 20:18,)
By providing general leadership and services to the total and work of the association
By positioning all the resources that God has entrusted to us, in the most effective ways possible, thereby providing the best possibility for impacting Lake County with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  12. Prod pastors to learn new skill sets (Ecclesiastes 10:10, Proverbs 27:17, 1 Corinthians 3:10)
